Michael Spagna
CSU Northridge
Professor and the first Eisner Endowed Chair in Teaching and Learning
Michael Spagna is responsible for teaching, supervising research and managing the
services and programs of the Center for Teaching and Learning, a premier center that
promotes the philosophy and methodology of Dr. Mel Levine and his All Kinds of Minds
organization. As an expert in standardized and alternative assessment, Spagna consults
regularly with directors of special education and program specialists in several large
school districts in Southern California. A teacher educator in the area of
mild/moderate disabilities, Spagna is the author of several articles and texts
regarding learning disabilities, assessment and instruction for children with
disabilities, and counseling exceptional children.
Spagna received his Ph.D. in special education with concentrations in reading
disabilities, public policy and psychological/educational measurement and assessment,
from the University of California, Berkeley-San Francisco State University Joint
Doctoral Program.
