California State University, Fresno

Campus Overview
A Pulitzer Prize-winning faculty, two "named" schools resulting from multi-million-dollar gifts, and 13 endowed chairs are earning California State University, Fresno a reputation as one of the West Coast's premier universities. With an enrollment of more than 21,000, Fresno State is Central California's leading university, boasting a rich ethnic and cultural mix of students and faculty. We offer 59 undergraduate degree programs and 44 master degree programs in the liberal arts and sciences as well as in a variety of professional disciplines emphasizing agriculture, business, engineering and technology, health and human services, and education. We also offer a joint doctorate with the University of California and have received a $4 million gift to develop an independent doctorate.

Fresno State is the first university in the nation licensed to produce, bottle and sell wine commercially. Its Downing Planetarium is visited by thousands annually, and the Smittcamp Family Honors College admits 50 of California's top high school graduates annually with full scholarships. A new Science Building, Student Recreation Center and Library are among the several building projects totaling $150 million that are recently completed or in progress.

The campus, which features 4,000 trees and is an officially designated arboretum, sits against a backdrop of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range and within two hours of three national parks - Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon. As we look forward to our Centennial in 2011, Fresno State is embarking on the largest fund-raising effort in our history, a "comprehensive campaign" that will support the overall academic excellence of our university. The campaign will raise new funds to support faculty, assist students and encourage excellence in teaching and learning.
